I was lucky to be in Montreal to shoot at the Diving Canada Cup 2012, at the Olympic Stadium. Some of the best athletes in the world competed as they are trying to get a sport on their Country’s Olympic team for London!

I loaded my gear in my Lowepro Pro Roller X200 ( I love a rolling bag whenever it is possible to access a site rolling).

Product Review: Lowepro Photo Sport 200 AW

I have been carrying my equipment in the Photo Sport 200Aw for a few weeks now. Before using this bag, I had smaller top loaders or slings, or larger backpacks, but I was clearly missing a lightweight, comfortable, yet roomy bag to carry my equipment. Speaking of weight, Lowepro reports the bag as weighing only 1.3kg! I haven’t actually weighted the bag, but it is very, very light. Too often I have had a bag being heavier than my actual gear!

Here is what I have been fitting in there most times:

I really like the separate access to the body compartment, which fits my D3 with a 24-70MM lens perfectly. It has a chamber lid that closes with a drawcord.

The bag features several external pockets, which are all well located for quick grab items. I often wear shorts without pockets in the summer time or when in tropical areas, and having safe pockets to have a phone and keys handy is very practical.

The dedicated hydratation pocket fits a camel-back style hydratation reservoir, while ensuring all your camera gear stays dry. Its the first time I am comfortable carrying H20 with my equipment.

The top compartment closes with a drawcord and some clips. Again, comparing to the conventional backpacks, much more practical than a zipper that would open the whole bag.

I have now been using this amazing product for a few months, covering different events, where I mainly had to access my shooting spot on skis. While I consider myself a decent skier, skiing down the hill carrying my 200-400 telephoto in my hands has always been something I’ve been worried about. Not anymore!

I have found this video made by Lowepro, which visits all the features of this bag.

I do not need to explain all the bells and whistles, I rather share my experience and how useful I feel the bag is. Most large bags of this kind have very poor comfort and support. The Lens Trekker 600 has incredible padding, and fits perfectly on your back, allowing you to focus on the trail you are climbing up or the hills you are skiing down. Very impressive quality for the surprisingly affordable price. Another quality product from Lowepro!

It was an incredibly cold day, -20 at Quebec’s Mont-Gabriel for the FIS Freestyle skiing World Cup today. Mogul Dual competition took place and despite a very sunny day, the course was very “flat light”.

So we all know Lowepro always pushes the limit and brings product to market that offer something more than the competition. They’ve understood that when you buy a bag that will be carrying some equipment, the ergonomic aspect of it is important to reduce the stress that the weight can cause on your body. The straps were no exception.

While most bags (in general) and even the most expensive luggage out there come with very cheap and uncomfortable straps, Lowepro did not leave them out of the “Above and Beyond” culture that rules Lowepro’s product development activities.

The Transporter Strap

Have you ever noticed how no matter how expensive your camera body is, the strap that comes with it is of very low quality and uncomfortable? This has been driving me crazy for a while. You pay as much as $5,000 for a camera body and the strap is probably worth $2. Our friends at Lowepro have used their knowledge and technology to develop high quality, comfortable and practical straps. I have been using the Transporter strap with my D3. I found it to be easily adjustable, comfortable and the sturdy feel makes you feel safe to trust it will hold your camera. It is much softer on your neck when having your camera hanging.

They pushed the limit by even including a memory card compartment on the strap!
